HEEE HAWWW TNR Hoedown 2021 was amazing! Thank you all who volunteered, attended, and made this event a very special day! God bless you all! Click here to see the video highlights.
We offer unique 90 minute sessions at no cost for all in need of hope and healing encompassed in a western environment.
True North Ranch Ministries' purpose is to bring hope and healing to children and families, by pairing them with a mentor and a horse.
We strengthen children and their families through the learning of core values and provide them the opportunity to discover the True North, Jesus Christ.
True North Ranch is a faith-based ministry organization. The Founders, Board of Directors, and Staff of True North Ranch believe that Jesus Christ is the One and only Son of God, He is our Savior, our Redeemer and coming King. We believe the Bible is the breathed word of God, perfect in every word and without error. It is our greatest desire to serve the Father by the demonstration of our faith through action. Faith on the ranch is expressed through a "living example" to those we work with.
It is our highest honor to serve children and families of all backgrounds with the same loving grace that has so freely been given to us. As a result of this foundation, all of our programs and training are structured accordingly.
March 1 Session registration opens!
April 15 Sessions begins!

Co-Founder and Chief Communications Officer of True North Ranch, Lee and her horse Bokoda, have a passion to reach out to hurting kids and their families. Since 2008, they have loved on kids together, by demonstrating how to build a relationship with one another through many different activities. Lee has seen over and over again how a horse can give a child so much and the child receives healing by just playing with an animal twice their size. A safe and peaceful place was created as the foundation where broken children and families could find hope and healing.
Dan, Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and better half, husband of Lee, and the hard workin man around the ranch. He recently has become more and more involved in being a horseman and learning how to apply his knowledge to help out with kids as well. Dan's talents of technology during the day can bring him the peace of a whole new feel when on the ranch on the weekends. He especially LOVES doing chores and picking up all the manure!
Mackinzey is Dan and Lee's daughter. She graduated from Liberty University and recently move back to MN from serving as a police officer in. VA. By being a Police Officer she hopes by serving as an officer she will do more than just keep the peace, but be a witness to the True Prince of Peace. Mackinzey has been the soul trainer for both horses, and continues to use her gifts of horsemanship when she can be at the ranch. She has a great sense of humor and kids love her!
Mitch is the son of Dan and Lee and as much as he loves horses, he enjoys the activities much more! He enjoys being creative with the programs and giving many ideas to make it more interesting. Mitch is our Volunteer Coordinator working with visitors to give tours, as well as arranging for others to come and help at the ranch. He loves to serve wherever he can, and his love of Jesus shines with all who encounter him. Bokoda and Nugget join him in this picture.

I love seeing the bond that happens when kids (of any age!) spend time with my horse. Horses have much to teach us about ourselves and the world around us. I'm excited to be a part of the ministry of True North Ranch where Jesus and horses make a big difference in the lives of young people.

My interest in horses started when I was 7 years old and my sister bought a thoroughbred for hunter/jumper shows. After a long time without horses, we bought my horse, Jack, who is a Tennessee Walking Horse when he was 3 years old. My husband trained him and Jack and I have been trail riding all over the country ever since. He's now 26 years old and still going strong.
I met Lee in Bible Study Fellowship and we became close Sisters in Christ with loving Jesus and horses. I heard a lot about True North Ranch through the years and became more and more interested in what Dan and Lee were doing in this ministry. I'd been praying for the ministry long before I became a board member. I have watched in awe seeing what God has done in the lives of Dan and Lee and especially seeing the impact their ministry has on children and adults alike. The Brainerd Lakes area is blessed to have this Christ-centered horse ministry in the area.
I have so many favorite verses, but Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God", means so much to me because it is in the quiet times, one-to-one with our Triune God, that I have learned so much and felt so close to Him. I pray those who visit True North Ranch will come to know Him in this close, personal way, also.
I've been married to Hayley for 2.5 years and we have one daughter and another child on the way. We have been in the Brainerd Lakes Area since 2017 and love living in lake country. I've been married to Hayley for 2.5 years and we have one daughter and another child on the way. We have been in the Brainerd Lakes Area since 2017 and love living in lake country. I was familiar with True North Ranch through a mutual connection to Lee and Dan; however it wasn't until I first met Lee and Dan that I started to learn of the work Jesus is doing at True North Ranch through Lee, Dan and the other workers. Growing up a "city kid" I've quickly learned what the amazing bond with horses can teach us about ourselves, others, and a relationship with God. Lee and Dan radiate Christ in the work they are doing and it's encouraging to see God show up at True North Ranch and in the families they serve. Humbled to be a part of this ministry.
