True North Ranch is a faith-based ministry organization. The Founders, Board of Directors, and Staff of True North Ranch believe that Jesus Christ is the One and only Son of God, He is our Savior, our Redeemer and coming King. We believe the Bible is the breathed word of God, perfect in every word and without error. It is our greatest desire to serve the Father by the demonstration of our faith through action. Faith on the ranch is expressed through a "living example" to those we work with.
It is our highest honor to serve children and families of all backgrounds with the same loving grace that has so freely been given to us. As a result of this foundation, all of our programs and training are structured accordingly.
True North Ranch Ministries' purpose is to bring hope and healing to children and families by pairing them with a mentor and a horse.
We strengthen children and their families through the learning of core values and provide them the opportunity to discover the True North, Jesus Christ.
Such a fun evening enjoying the summer evening with friends! Thank you all who joined us in the celebration!
We have had a big year of clean up and extra expenses due to storms and rising costs in feed and overall care of the ranch. Both organizations helped us meet a tremendous need and even helped us get our new pasture open. What a blessing they are!
Co-Founder and Chief Communications Officer of True North Ranch, Lee and her horse Bokoda, have a passion to reach out to hurting kids and their families. Since 2006, they have loved on kids together, by demonstrating how to build a relationship with one another through many different activities. Lee has seen over and over again how a horse can give a child so much and the child receives healing by just playing with an animal twice their size. A safe and peaceful place was created as the foundation where broken children and families could find hope and healing. Lee is also the sole trainer and maintainer of all the animals on the ranch. Her training comes with great passion to implement natural training techniques which makes the sessions extra special for each one who participates.
Dan, Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and better half, husband of Lee, and the hard workin' man around the ranch. He recently has become more and more involved in being a horseman and learning how to apply his knowledge to help out with kids as well. Dan's gifts of technology and fixing pretty much anything during the day is just part of his ministry. Since Dan retired he now serves full time and has started a new ministry with boys working and building with wood. It's been a wonderful blessing to many young boys!
Mackinzey is Dan and Lee's daughter. She graduated from Liberty University and recently moved back to MN from serving as a police officer in. VA. By being a Police Officer she hopes by serving as an officer she will do more than just keep the peace, but be a witness to the True Prince of Peace. Mackinzey has been the sole trainer for both horses and continues to use her gifts of horsemanship when she can be at the ranch. She has a great sense of humor and kids love her!
Mitch is the son of Dan and Lee and as much as he loves horses, he enjoys the activities much more! He enjoys being creative with the programs and giving many ideas to make it more interesting. He loves to serve wherever he can especially in his gift of photography and video. Much of what you see on the website is Mitch's great work of art. His love of Jesus shines with all who encounter him and are so thankful when he can give his time.

I love seeing the bond that happens when kids (of any age!) spend time with my horse. Horses have much to teach us about ourselves and the world around us. I'm excited to be a part of the ministry of True North Ranch where Jesus and horses make a big difference in the lives of young people.

I have been married to Ann since 2013. All our children and stepchildren are grown and on their own. We have five teenage grandchildren and a one-year grandchild who is truly a joy. I have been in the lakes area on a seasonal basis since the early 1980s. I wanted to live in Crosslake full time and finally convinced Ann into making the move. We built our home and moved in 2020. That is when we met Lee and Dan through our church. Their faith is an inspiration to all they meet and their dedication to serving the Lord is beyond measure. I have always loved horses and in (many) years past I worked at a camp doing trail rides and cook outs. When I heard about the wonderful work Lee and Dan do through True North Ranch I had to jump in and volunteer, helping where needed. Ann has been enjoying helping also. I look forward to seeing more of how God, thru True North Ranch, blesses those we serve.

I've been married to Hayley since 2019 and we have two young daughters. . We have been in the Brainerd Lakes Area since 2017 and love living in lake country. I was familiar with True North Ranch through a mutual connection to Lee and Dan; however it wasn't until I first met Lee and Dan that I started to learn of the work Jesus is doing at True North Ranch through Lee, Dan and the other workers. Growing up a "city kid" I've quickly learned what the amazing bond with horses can teach us about ourselves, others, and a relationship with God. Lee and Dan radiate Christ in the work they are doing and it's encouraging to see God show up at True North Ranch and in the families they serve. Humbled to be a part of this ministry.
